What I've learned in June 2025

What I've learned in June 2025

So, yeah! June has already ended, so let's take a look at what I've done this month.

  • Celebrate my 33rd birthday! Spent this day with my lovely family.
  • Early this month I prepared for a performance review. There was a long season, because the company changed its review schedule. That means instead of Spring-Fall review cycles, we’ve got Winter-Summer, so this season was 9 months long. I led really complicated projects, like migrating legal entities data to our infrastructure.
  • I studied double-entry bookkeeping while designing billing system refactoring. It is really amazing, there is a lot of observability and transparency in the finances, and while it is so easy to implement.
  • Only 7 LeetCode tasks were done; it doesn’t look good.
  • I applied for the vacancy and got a screening interview. I was rejected, but I got a useful experience. On one hand, I’m confident enough to communicate in English, but on the other hand I recognized my points of growth.

In general this month was ineffective in terms of my goals, because I was so busy at my current job. One of my achievements and goals from the previous year was the ability to balance between stress and relaxation. In other words, even with too much load on my job, I prefer to relax enough. Next month should be more predictive, so I set the next goals:

  • Complete watching the video system design course
  • Start practicing system design (I’ve bought a year subscription for some educational resource)
  • Continue to do cloud course
  • Apply for a few more positions and I hope I will be invited to an interview. I should improve my interviewing skills.
  • Write blog posts regularly
